James is experienced in both sides of the investment world – as a professional investor and a startup founder.
For many years he worked in the investment management industry as an analyst and researcher, starting with the Alliance Trust and ultimately becoming a director at BlackRock, part of a team based in London and San Francisco. James understands what investors are looking for and can help make your business investor-ready.
After leaving finance, James founded his own startup. He succeeded in raising investment several times, growing the business before selling the brand to an established company in 2022. He has experienced the whole startup journey from the idea stage to exit. He understands entrepreneurs and the challenges they face.
James’ skill set includes financial modelling, market research, writing business plans and preparing pitch decks.

Formerly Head of Commercial at the Energy Ombudsman, Chris is a qualified marketer and an experienced business professional, both owning and running marketing, web and media agencies and service-based businesses for over 30 years. He is the current founder of a pre-money mental healthcare business and a mentor and advisor to a number of businesses and start-ups. Chris is a creative and strategic thinker who specialises in all things commercial, operational and wellbeing.
